Yanel Sanchez

Yanel Sanchez

Starting from the algorithms, he combines “art, science and technology”. The technical media used by Yanel Sanchez (Caracas, Venezuela, 1981) are convincing and produce an aesthetic outcome. The artist contrasts and combines two streams: the Op and the Digital Art. His work is influenced by Victor Vasarely, Yaacov Agam, Bridget Riley and the Venezuelans: Jesus Soto and Carlos Cruz-Diez, renowned worldwide for their contributions to the arts in the XX century.

Computer art was born in Germany on January 05, 1965. Since then many forms, styles and purposes have emerged in this genre, where many debate whether it can be called art or not. The emergence of digital art has the same controversy weight as the one provoked by the industrial production during the London International Exhibition, where the opposing views of Henry Cole, John Ruskin and William Morris arose. Hand made vs. machine made.

Yanel Sanchez creates forms based on trace curves made with digital brushes and a skillful combination of colors and inks. He knows and masters the color theory (Newton, Goethe, Itten and Munsell.) From the chromatic knowledge, the process is then carried to the mounting materials. These flat surfaces have convex visuals (optical illusions) that generate (to the eyes) movements and kinks of opposing trajectories.

Yanel Sanchez is 32 years old and he has been a digital artist for the past 10 years. A good and brave decision.
